MANARAT AL SAADIYAT – ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

In 2009 and 2010 GCAM provided services to the Tourism Development & Investment Company, the entity responsible for the overall development of Saadiyat Island and its Cultural District including the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum and the Louvre Abu Dhabi. These services were for the conception, design, planning, and development of a venue - to be known as “Manarat al Saadiyat” - for the public exhibition of art on Saadiyat Island during the period prior to the opening of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

GCAM worked with architect Richard Gluckman on a space plan and concept design for the project and developed technical recommendations for the spaces. The proposal included galleries for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, special exhibitions galleries, and space for commercial galleries, and retail and food/beverage operations. GCAM provided preliminary exhibition proposals.

Manarat al Saadiyat opened in 2010.
