GUGGENHEIM-HERMITAGE MUSEUM - LAS VEGAS, 2000-2001 (REM KOOLHAAS)

This 560 square meter museum in The Venetian Las Vegas was conceived as a limited-term partnership between the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the State Hermitage Museum to present work from the permanent collections of both institutions.  The Rem Koolhaas design used Cor-Ten steel for its interior and exterior walls, to evoke the traditional velvet walls of the Hermitage while also alluding to Minimalist American sculpture such as the work of Richard Serra
