China Discourse: Histories, Technologies, Ecologies, and Grace

Changsha Municipal Museum, Changsha, China

Tan Guobin Museum of Contemporary Art, Changsha, China

October 17, 2015 through December 16, 2015

As the fifth Art Changsha Biennale, China Discourse: Histories, Technologies, Ecologies, and Grace attempts to understand how drastically different perspectives coexist in this complex world, and how they can fertilize each other and stimulate imagination by discursive confrontation.  The exhibition was designed to present the work of six artists – New York-based Cai Guo Qiang, Francesco Clemente, and Tom Sachs, along with Beijing-based Wang Guangyi, Zhu Jia, and Wang Youshen.  The six retrospective exhibitions jointly represent a cross section of an emerging global culture that is simultaneously local and global, personal and universal.  As the first Art Changsha presenting international contemporary art, China Discourse: Histories, Technologies, Ecologies, and Grace embodies the fast development of contemporary art in China, and it is testimony to the concrete fact of China's commitment to international discourse.
